Scrum Half & Technique

Hi all,

Simple question, how important is Technique for a Scrum Half? I've got a good young 'un that I've been training up, he performs well and is rated well in Attack, Defence, Handling, Strength, Speed and Kicking (all 9s and 10s, I'm in Division V). But his technique isn't upto much(4), and I keep getting the feeling I should be training him hard in that aspect. Technique affects the breakdown for SH doesn't it?

Apologies if this is a really obvious question or something that's been covered elsewhere.

I think as far as backs are concerned, SH is probably one of the backs that needs a fair amount most. He plays in close proximity to the opposition forwards (high technique players) which means a low technique SH could possibly be getting turned over when he goes on a PnG.
