Leaving players in academy until 19
Whilst I agree that promoting players on their 17th birthday is the best way to develop a superstar, I spotted one team in my division promoting a few players when they were 19. This resulted in them being around 50k CSR, and most skills between 9 and 12. This struck me as a great way to develop some squad players from the youth ranks. They could be used for cup games or rotated in league matches and grow by 500 CSR per week possibly. Your thoughts...

Is it best to promote on 19th birthday or just before they turn 20?

Right, Here's a lad I have in my academy right now:
By incognitoad at 2012-03-16
He's getting trained in Stamina, speed, technique and strength while he's in the academy, wheras he would be recieving worse training in the firsts in stamina, handling defence and kicking. Much more efficient to keep him with the kiddies (Plus good experience from LTNT every week)

Will his stamina stop growing now he's reached 12?

I dont think or know if there is a cap but it takes an age to get from 12 to 13 I believe.

This is my junior squad, I'm leaving some players longer in there. Who could be worth the waiting?

What skills are you training in your youth team?

Jeol, I think there's a hard cap at the bottom of princely (12) Without CSR it's difficult to know for sure, but The guys in my team got up to 12 quite quickly, then simply didn't pop from 12. One did after about 9 weeks in the seniors.

I was training tech, str, hand, def. then I changed hand to stamina, because it was quite low across the board. Now I have changed it completely because it's useless, I'm afraid, if there is a cap at 12, so I went 2x stamina, agility, speed.eddbutt wrote:What skills are you training in your youth team?
Does that make sense?

No - there is no hard cap for training in the Youth Academy. However, training rates do differ in speed at certain levels, just like in the seniors - so at a certain point in their training, skills grow at a slower rate once they hit a benchmark level.

This is what I thought back to when the advice came there is no hard cap on training in the YA. Possibly there's a soft cap and training is glacially slow past 12, or a tweak has now been made in the database settings such that training can go past 12.
The lad that trained for 9 weeks in the seniors before a pop resulted, was that just TT in seniors or any individual nets?

Just TT, I don't have a stamina trainer. I'll have to check the dates again because some of it may have been double TT

Re: Leaving players in academy until 19
12-13 pop time on just TT for a 19 yr old is much more than 9 weeks.
2 thoughts, either the guy was still geting stam training in the YA but at a slower speed or (and i suspect this my be the case ghaving weighed up all th info) that training stops at 12 but IGT does not. meaning we was at 12.6 when you pulled him and he gainined the .6 from IGT.

I hope you're wrong about stopped TT. Now we need player at 12 who stays in the YA but doesn't play any games.

Re: Leaving players in academy until 19
by the way its slightly off topic but can you train younger players quicker than older? is there like a 'cant teach an old dog new tricks situation?'
