Whats more important in your opinion?
Re: Debate: Forwards vs Backs
D'oh!
My turn to forget to set a team and send my default side out, sorry.
We won 45 - 14 which is a more than you won by, but not hugely so.
So let's try and run the next two weeks like we should have run the last two, next week we play at yours with your backs and my forwards, then at mine with my backs and your forwards.
I await your challenge sir.

Re: Debate: Forwards vs Backs
I was concerned that your backs were over120kgs and destroying my front row!
I've sent the challenge and look forward to a match where we both pay attention!

Re: Debate: Forwards vs Backs
Ok I've set a lineup of forwards, sadly Snider, who played at 10 last time is injured so Wellman is kicking, he's only got 3 in kicking, and that's the best on the field, so I've set them to only kick 2% of the time.
I decided to go for a slightly more balanced offensive strategy this time
PnG 47%
Driving 48%
Expansive 2%
Creative 3%
Defense: Rush
Discipline: Agressive

Re: Debate: Forwards vs Backs
OK I've actually set mine up nice and early!
Pick and Go:20%
Driving:15%
Expansive:35%
Creative:30%
Aggressive discipline, figured theres no point in playing BTB as forwards can't kick that well and I need any help I can get rucking!
Kicking at 5%, try to run it about a bit.
Rush defense.

Ok mine's set now too,
PnG 2%
Driving 1%
Expansive 50%
Creative 47%
BtB (try and get as many kicks as possible)
Kicking at 20% which seems like loads to me.
1% for touch 99% Up'n'Under, let's see how those forwards like the high ball.
MoM Defense, coz I almost never play it

Re: Debate: Forwards vs Backs
Ok so a quick recap, here's the scores from all our matches so far with the home team coloured red
Mr Kearns mmm
Backs 10 - 57 Forwards
Forwards 27 - 29 Backs
Normal 50 - 31 Forwards
Forwards 14 - 45 Normal
Backs 17 - 40 Forwards
Forwards 17 - 36 Backs
So what does this tell us.
I think the following.
A normal (balanced) team is superior to one of all forwards.
A team of all forwards is better than a team of all backs as although they may struggle to score they get more ball and thus have more chances.
I'm willing to play some more games, maybe a couple of normal v backs games but I'm willing to bet that the normal team will wipe the floor with the backs only side.
Anyone else think we need to explore this any further?

Re: Debate: Forwards vs Backs
Thanks for playing the matches guys has been interesting (when you remembered to set line ups lol)
I kinda expected forwards to have the edge since you really need the specialised players for the set pieces, I think it shows that the newer managers should really focus on their forwards first...
