Front row height

I'm thinking of switching my front row around and I'm wondering if anyone knows what the limits are on front row heights?

I'm currently 187-184-187 which is pretty safe imo, but I'm going to switch out the props for 193-?-192. I'm wondering whether my current 184 hooker will be fine or if I should switch one of my 187s in there (he's my backup hooker anyway).

Ideally you'd keep the height difference at 5cm or lower, but I wouldn't worry about 193-184-192. Certainly try it for a while.

My own front row is (or will be) 197-183-196 and that certainly isn't ideal, but I'm guessing not many teams will give me grief with some more training complete. And if they do it's not impossible to move a player to the back row

Height difference between hooker and props isn't that massive I don't think especially if the hooker is short.

My front row is super tall and I've lost a few scrums but won far more lineouts:

Even if my prop is slightly shorter than my hooker I work on the +5 rule if the prop is shorter than the hooker. However if it is the hooker who is shorter I work on the 15cm range rule. Which is compared to your tallest prop, if your hooker is within 15cm then it is okay. However I prefer my props to be 5cmish in difference at most.

Cheers, I'll give it a go at 184 and see what happens. It's only 8-9cm below the props so it should be ok then. I already dominate the lineout, but my new tall props are much more skilled, so hopefully I'll dominate both scrum and line now
