I've got a few ideas on how we can improve things and once the new journo and U20 are lined up, as long as they're not Trump I'll put my hand up to share ideas, make some suggestions and help out wherever I can.
PS. Jim, I'm Florida, nice to meet you.
Hey Florida, Nice to meet you.
Fair play about the Trump comparison.
I look forward to seeing what we can do in the future, I will certainly look to get more involved in the future to make sure we can get back to where we should be.

Re: Season 29 u20s and journo elections
I'm not sure England are miles off where we'd want them to be. We lost to France in two cups back in a close game where we had some shocking form in the backs, and I do mean shocking, and then we lost this time by 2 points to a South Korea team who put it all on the line to make the next game and promptly crashed out.
You'd basically be looking at taking 3-5 players from each of the last two squads and looking for an extra 20-30k CSR (not that I much like using CSR as a means of comparing players) and/or hoping for a bump in form.
I suppose it's possible to get 30 players who would all push for a 1st XV spot, but that seems unlikely, and thus whoever wins is going to need games their 2nd XV, or lesser mixed XV can make it through without being targeted. But it'd be worth accepting we do have good numbers, and it's now very rare for players contending to be in u20 squads not to be on 10x level 5s. We do struggle with exp, but the changes to exp gains from TNT will work in favour of England is my assumption.

The fact is we need to get the offsite buzzing again but what about social media get things flowing on there?

Re: Season 29 u20s and journo elections
You won't get the offsite buzzing in its present form. To converse with you lot? Unlikely, not because you're not all nice decent people, you all seem fine, but there are times when no ones on, so you end up with a chat window with random little bits of conversations. You've then got the platform itself, to use it with chat you really need to be in front of a computer, the mobile interface is better but its not got the chat part. Finally, this is fundamentally a message board and a message board encourages a habit of dip in dip out.
Social media is not a bad shout, but that requires encouraging people to hand over significant details of their real life. The best bet is a persistent chat platform, but before you set it up work out what you're selling to all the people you want to come visit it. As I mentioned earlier, I've got some ideas on what we could do, but lets wait and see the outcome of these elections and work out what we can do and who we'll be doing it with.
Just remember, if you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got.

Engagement in England is a big issue and has been for some time. If anyone has any ideas about what we need to do and how to go about it, please post. We've got an amazing NT, a big wave of players coming through that are around the 300k mark at the moment, and we always put together a competitive U20 squad, but there isn't much of a community feel right now.

Re: Season 29 u20s and journo elections
At its simplest, give the people something to regularly come to the offsite for.
There are numerous experts here, they can help both new and old.
We've got an NT manager and U20 manager. They ought to be heavily engaging with the community. Picture the scene, a game has been won and the NT manager is online, the community join the chat channel and throw questions their way - what went well, what not so well, why did you do x y or z etc etc.
Get a team together, split up the divisions and leagues and go through every league and every team. You'll find leagues with one or two players and a shit load of bots, get in touch via BR with those managers, introduce them to each other and get cross league competitions set up. Get them talking to each other and then widen it so they talk to more people. Also look at the leagues with one or two teams that dominate, that's no fun for them either, do the same, introduce and set up more interesting competitions for them. None of it needs to be official, just do it as a random week day friendly.

Re: Season 29 u20s and journo elections
I've posted a few times last season about going to the offsite during an England game and ask questions, but only three or four of the regulars ever join. Be good if we could get more people to log on to one.

Re: Season 29 u20s and journo elections
You won't get any that way, you need news articles posted in the build up to let people know it's happening, these need to be posted at times when people will see them. The QA session ends to be when people are generally online doing other things with their club / team.

If elected, I will happily liaise with the new journo and arrange these, maybe Wednesday evening time during cup game time

Re: Season 29 u20s and journo elections
That only works while people remain in the cup. I'm going to spend a bit of time today setting some stuff up that will allow us to brainstorm some ideas and then discuss them. It's be great if at some point we could schedule a session for us to all be online and thrash a few things out, but we'll work that out at a later date.

Re: Season 29 u20s and journo elections
Well it's been a staid affair this election season, which is perhaps still a significant improvement on some past endeavours. I can't say I've got a sense for how they've gone other than I voted for Dazza and Lokomo a week or so back, and we'll see how it all works out in the wash in just over six hours time.

And so we enter the closing stages of the race, just 59 minutes remain until England are informed of their new U20 manager.

I'm predicting a win for Hopmans with dazza a couple of votes shy. As I said, I've a real bad feeling about this one. Just over 30 minutes to go
